Six weeks out!

The count down has really started now with only six weeks until we put up the tent for the development and preview show in Braidwood NSW.

Luke has been beavering away with the business plan, and I have been up to my elbows in thread and fabric, making our costumes.

This has been the busiest Christmas and New year period ever, but things are starting to come together.

Here is a sneak peak of the colours, stripes and laces that will be making our performers pretty this season :) I will be spending the next couple of weeks making a music box ballerina costume, a tin soldier costume and a Jack in the box - that's right folks, a circus toybox!

  1. Eve, all the best of luck with this venture... I hope you bring it to Melbourne or thereabouts and I will make sure I have a front row seat... Re- costumes - a friend of mine's daughter ran a dance school basically as the lights fell on the last performance of the year - the ideas, designs would come out for the following year... My friend was never without a needle and thread in her hand...But she did say it was exciting seeing it all come together....
Again all the best to you and your crew...

  3. Hello!
Thank you for your support and lovely comments, it is all coming together slowly but surely. I spent today building a Tin-Soldier helmet for Luke - it is proving quite the task to convince him that sparkles, tassels and pretty ribbons can work on boys - it is ok when it is the circus! Fun times here in the costume workshop! :)

  7. Hi there,
Thanks for the messages! Likewise Maureen, I feel like I know some of you as Sharon chats about you all!
Pamela - Yep, it is a bit of an unusual project, I am sure Sharon will continue to keep you all updated - We are all super excited.
JeanneZ - Thanks for the lovely words - more vids will be up as soon as we set off :)

Hopefully once we are out on the tour I will be able to update this blog more frequently with tales from the road. For now, I am piecing together a massive ballerina dress for my trapeze routine!
    All the best everyone!

  8. Hi Eve

Congratulations on your new venture. You probably don't remember me, but I was at Sharon's the day before you left for Europe, many many moons ago.

I wish you all the success in the world. If hard work and dedication can do it, you will.

  9. Hi,
What a great blog about your costuming for a circus. Would you be performing in Canberra this year? I would love to meet you and see what you have created. I also organise a social group for people who enjoy making and looking at costuming collections. So if you are interested in meeting up some time please see http://www.acg.org.au/contact.html and send an email to me Sharon Doig - ACT President - Australian Costumers Guild. Looking forward to hearing from you.
